Kiryat Arba Emergency Medical Center Gets Much Needed Upgrade
Thanks To Generous Donation by Dr. Sam & Betty Roth of Dix Hills, NY and One Israel Fund
Kiryat Arba, Israel - The Emergency Medical Center in Kiryat Arba has been serving the Hebron and South Hebron region for many years. From births, traffic accidents and terror attacks, this center has been an island in a stormy sea. The nearest emergency facilities are located in Jerusalem and Be'ersheva, at least an hour drive from this region.
Over the years, the need for immediate medical attention has become a pressing issue. It became apparent that many more lives could be saved if the proper care could be given in a shorter amount of time. The facility was in place - however all of the necessary equipment was not. The rising number of terror attacks, accidents and other medical emergencies shouted for a solution.
Answering the calls for this solution, One Israel Fund responded, through a generous donation by its donors Dr. Sam and Betty Roth of Dix Hills, NY. Thanks to the Roths gift, proper equipment has been purchased and, as such, this upgraded facility has been raised to a level that can now meet the toughest of emergency medical situations. This "island" has become a gem in this ever so important region to the Jewish people. The joint effort of the Kiryat Arba Council, area medical personnel and One Israel Fund has now ensured that all medical emergencies in the area can be handled and countless lives will be saved in the process. All that was needed to make this a reality was the effort and vision of the Roths.
Emergency Medical Response is often the main factor between life and death. Jewish villages throughout Yehuda and Shomron are not all situated close to hospitals. Proper care and response must often be given in the field or at nearby Jewish villages. Most of the regions in Yehuda and Shomron are working diligently to set up emergency and trauma centers. This is one of the lessons learned by the violence that so often frequents these areas. Roads closed due to terror activity often have devastating effects. The medical teams throughout Yehuda and Shomron are among the best trained and most experienced in the country. The doctors, paramedics, medics and volunteers go above and beyond the call of duty to save lives. This dedication by Dr. Sam and Betty Roth provides our people with the spirit and strength to go on and continue to face the daily challenges we face as a people and G-d willing, enable us to continue in our land.
One Israel Fund has been at the vanguard of providing the means needed to continue this mission that touches all of us. From medical needs to providing the means and equipment to security personnel, One Israel Fund has brought many people the opportunities to be part of the mitzvah of saving lives in our homeland. It is our responsibility as Jews to be there for each other. While Jews in the Diaspora cannot be on hand to defend our land or save lives, they can be partners.
One Israel Fund is still involved in many projects throughout Yehuda and Shomron. Unfortunately, as the war against terrorism continues, it is in our power to have an effect on the results. Projects that enable us to defend and save lives are more important now than ever. Emergency response training, first response equipment, emergency medical equipment and more are needed to meet the challenges that are facing the heartland of Israel. With the question of Yehuda and Shomron always being asked around the world, NOW is the time to join and become a partner and work as one to strengthen these communities. The opportunity and privilege to be part of this stands before all of us, we only need to grasp it. We will stand strong in the face of our enemies and bring peace into our land. "G-d will give strength to His people, G-d will bless His people with peace."
The mission of One Israel Fund is to provide essential security, emergency medical and humanitarian aid to the over 280,000 men, women and children living in YESHA (the communities of Judea and Samaria as well as the Jewish Communities formerly of Gush Katif) as well as those communities left vulnerable by the evacuation such as Sderot, Ashkelon and others in the Western Negev Region.
Our goal is to undertake ongoing fundraising campaigns to help ensure the physical, emotional and moral well-being of the Jewish families living in each and every community in YESHA. Helping to make available a broad spectrum of communal needs, One Israel Fund is a recognized 501(c)(3) not for profit charitable organization, ID# 11-3195338 and is the largest North American charity whose efforts are dedicated to the citizens and communities of YESHA.
