Judea and samaria

Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank, is a historic region located in the central part of Israel. It is home to a rich tapestry of biblical history, diverse landscapes, and vibrant communities. While the region has faced numerous challenges over the years, it remains a land of immense potential and enduring spirit.

Judea and Samaria are more than locations on a map. They are the foundation of Jewish history, the frontline of Israel’s security, and the key to its survival.

This is where the Jewish people first walked, where kings ruled, prophets spoke, and history was written. Today, over 500,000 Jews live here, continuing a legacy thousands of years in the making. This land is not only Israel’s past. It is also the strategic backbone of its future.

The Birthplace of the Jewish Nation

Judea and Samaria are known as the Biblical Heartland, where God’s covenant with the Jewish people was established. Abraham journeyed here. Jacob’s sons built their families here.

For generations, Jews have called this region home.

Jewish life never fully disappeared. Communities thrived in Hebron and Shechem until the 20th century, when violent massacres forced them out. After the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel regained the heartland and Jews returned, rebuilding the communities that had been stolen from them.

Why Judea and Samaria Matter Today

The mountain ranges of Judea and Samaria overlook 70 percent of Israel’s population, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beersheva, and Ben Gurion Airport. Without this protective barrier, terror groups would launch rockets into Israel’s core.

Former IDF Chief of Staff Moshe “Bogie” Ya’alon put it simply: “If we do not control the high ground in Judea and Samaria, the entire Israeli coastal plain, including Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Airport, will be within the range of shoulder-launched missiles.” Judea and Samaria remain Israel’s frontline defense.

A Thriving Community

Despite constant challenges, Jewish life in Judea and Samaria is flourishing. What began with a few pioneering families has grown into vibrant towns and cities with schools, businesses, medical centers, parks, and beautiful homes.

More than 500,000 men, women, and children call this region home. One Israel Fund stands with them, ensuring they have the tools to thrive and stay safe in our Biblical Heartland.
