Glass, Loss, Love and Light
Ruti Gillis is a modern Judean legend. Eve Harow visited her at home in Karmei Tzur, near the Maccabean battlefield of Beit Tzur. A glass expert, jeweler and art therapist, her world shattered in 2001 when her husband, world renowned hematologist-oncologist Dr. Shmuel Gillis, was murdered by terrorists. Ruti initiated the flagship Pina Chama/ Warm Corner for soldiers at the Gush Etzion Junction.
Building Men in Beit Hagai
Eve Harow visits Beit Hagai, a small village south of Hevron whose residents are holding the fort in this very PA area. Literally. Their youth village for boys from dysfunctional homes is a community project that has successfully taught many young men how to lead productive lives.

Happy 75th Israel!
In merely 75 years – a blink of an eye in the history of our nation – it is incredible how Israel has turned a barren and sparsely inhabited desert into a land truly “flowing with milk and honey”. As the Tanakh tells us, the land of Israel will not give forth its bounty until its people return. And it sure has and then some.
Peonies and Perseverance
Yaron Rosenthal grows beautiful peonies and incredible juicy cherries as well as nurturing the business and tourism side of this kibbutz. Destroyed the day before the state was declared 75 years ago and rebuilt 19 years later after liberation in the 6 Day War, he speaks with Eve Harow on the community’s ongoing battles.
Tough as Glass
The Ark of the Covenant held the broken Tablets as well as the set that was whole, because our failures define us as much as our successes. Maanit Rabinovitz takes broken glass shards and turns them into beautiful items. Her profession reflects life in her community of Kida; building, planting, creating, safeguarding and redeeming the Land one piece at a time despite- and because -of the challenges.
Nokdim: Flowing into the Judean Desert
Eve Harow visits Nokdim in Eastern Gush Etzion. She speaks with (nephew) Gabi Harow, of the Gush Etzion Foundation, on the close cooperation between the two Funds to secure and enhance the lives of the residents of this fast growing community on the desert’s edge.
